Re: Barefoot Boy. When I was getting into LC, I wasn't determined about this one. At the time, it seemed readily available at Amazon.com and the local Aomeba Records. When I later found out the track listing and got really interested, it disappeared. Now it's impossible to find. Hopefully the retrospective DVD will generate interest and these CD's will be in print again.

Hi, I've just signed up. I'm a really big fan of Larry and his beautiful music and I wonder if he will play any Concerts in Germany some time. I'm from Hamburg and I get very low information about Jazz Concerts. Does anyone of you know about plans Larry Coryell touring Germany. Hamburg is a great place to play a concert.
Greetings

LADY CORYELL - Larry Coryell
by DiamondDog on Tuesday 08 November 2005

LADY CORYELL is a bizarre album of Larry Coryell. It's very psychedelic in a way. A lot of good guitarplay like the songs 'Treats Style', 'You Don't Know What Love Is' and 'Stiff Neck'. Excellent guitarwork. And that makes Larry one of best guitarplayers in the world.
Only songs like 'Sunday Telephone', 'Love Child Is Coming Home' (country song) where he sings, sounds a little bit bad. Ok, the feeling is good, but the way he sings is a little bit funny.

LADY CORYELL is a very good early fusionalbum. It isn't a complete album, the vocals of Larry are not that strong at all and the sound is a little bit thin, but it succeeds on every level to show how good Larry Coryell can play.

For some odd reason, I continue to come back to this album and call it an excellent piece from beginning to end. Once you settle into the record, you will find yourself craving it all of the time.
It ranges from jazz to rock to folk to country to funky, and then for good measure, combines some of these styles all at once on certain tracks. Funny enough, I would describe his vocals as punk rock. It is definitely an interesting listen, and it was an album like this which made him a total original, and set him apart from the rest.
This is what an album sounds like when an artist has complete control, always a bit of a double edge sword for Coryell, because while he released what he wanted, there is no direction to a certain genre to be marketed as such, therefore alienating a fanbase to primarily other musicians and eclectic listeners.
I love this album, sounding very much of its time and ahead of its time. Great first solo outing. A
