watched a video of Larry, Alphonzo and Bunny Burnell (?) playing at Musicians Institute in 1989. Unbelievable stuff. had me hootin and hollarin in the library! With the trio's performance of "Stella By Starlight," I learned the real meaning of "the power trio." The fusion stuff was enethical. Still trying to collect the pieces of my mind after that one.

darazn1 on Wednesday 16 May 2007 - 19:00:38
The DVD is great. The rehearsal footage of Morning sickness is funky and loose. Would be a great promo for the whole set.

Went back for the third and last night at Ronnie's in Soho. So glad I did, the set flowed with excellent, muscular playing from all. RR

Just got back from seeing Larry at Ronnie's in London. A slightly thin house, and a tentative start, explained later by the fact he had eaten some dodgy food. But by a third in, the whole thing gelled, with a great Dragon's gate and a wonderful Spaces (Revisited) anmd excellent work from Mark Egan. Larry invited his wife to be Tracy (sp?) on stage and I feared the worst, but she can really sing and her presence seemed to inspire him further. A great night. Of course, I wished he'd played something from Fairyland or Barefoot Boy, but that's a quibble. Come back soon. RR

darazn1 on Monday 09 April 2007 - 22:53:06
barefoot boy has been a subject of intrigue for many moons. Please make a reissue.
DiamondDog on Monday 09 April 2007 - 04:35:00
Hi ReiDei, thank you for your comment on my review. You're right. The camera wasn't always ok, but hey, the music and performance rocks! hahaha And what do you mean? Which song? Do you mean 'Souls Dirge'? Or 'Morning Sickness'? And yes, Barefoot Boy should be released again! hahaha
ReiDei on Thursday 05 April 2007 - 23:46:13
Hi DiamonDog thats`s right there should be re-issue of Barefoot Boy because very rare recording - on amazon.com very expensive: 50 $
ReiDei on Thursday 05 April 2007 - 23:38:53
Hi DiamondDog - your review is good, I only wann a add that the position of the camera is not always on top, right? Do you know the song at the end of the 1.disc during the song listing? thnks Reinhold, Würzburg, Germany
DiamondDog on Tuesday 03 April 2007 - 03:10:00
By the way... I hope there will be a re-issue of the record Barefoot Boy...soon!
Can someone confirm: Larry Coryell is sitting in with Les Paul tonight at Iridium in NYC? 10 p.m. To you lucky bastards, I hope you go and have stories to share with all of us! Happy trails!
Just finished IMPROVISING, great job Larry ! Been an avid fan since '72. Foreplay at the Twelfth Gate in Atlanta!!! The Firebird Suite at Lawndale Art Annex in Houston!!! With Steve Kahn at Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom!!! On and on, thanks for the memories, it's been a great ride. Just like it takes several decades for the laws to catch up with cultural morality, so it is that sometimes it takes decades for the culture to catch up with an artist. So many extraordinary albums, Offering, Real Great Escape, Spaces, Planet End, The Lion and the Ram, Together, Return, et.al. So much passion for the music ! Such a master of the instrument ! Thanks for all the great music, and may there be many more years to come !
I agree with hikiate Fairyland is an incredible CD. Irecently discovered it, and I have almost all of Mr. Coryells work. Also Bob I second the true blues cd. Also beware of Larry's son Julien has a new power trio CAST, saw them live and they have a great new cd. Julien is carrying on nicely in his dads footsteps.
I just found this site and I'm glad I did! I met Larry at a clinic he did at a MARS music store in Marietta, GA. I bought just about everything he had for sale that day, hahaha. Sadly, I missed the 'Spaces Revisited' gig he did at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta with Lagrene, Bona and Chambers. Is there any live footage of that tour? What I wouldn't give to see that..!!!!
