Great clip from retrospective. A 21rst. century version of the great 1969 jam which captures the original feel. Larry and Bernard haven't lost a stop and mr. Hart?, The bassman is impressive

I re-sized the rest of the 1981 Coryell shots from the same batch the "Bolero" shots came from. You had mentioned you had to reduce them. I had no idea they were that huge! Sorry! Hopefully they're more useable now. This time also, I put more of a narrative about the concert under each photo. So, as one reads each caption, one gets more of a description of Larry's famous performance that night on February 18, 1981. It's still etched in my memory; like it happened yesterday!

Does anybody know what kind of strings Larry uses on his Cort?
darazn1 on Tuesday 30 January 2007 - 15:37:37
Where's the fan base? What was the show on the 27th like? What went down, how great was it? The last time Larry declared, "don't miss it...", they did the retrospective concert. He made another declaration, so I'm itching for info on the proceedings.

The retrospective concert was awesome. Actually had a dream last night that I was at a LC retrospective show (another one). Been ranscribing B.B.Blues from the Electric CD. That solo is just plain twisted. Larry is a true original.

I submitted the photos from the batch that the front & back cover of Larry's "Bolero" CD were taken. I got some great shots that night way back in 1981. I thought Larry's fans might like to see the rest of the shots, especially the ones I got of him w/ that steel blue Les Paul he played in his brief 2 electric sets! Can you tell me if & when they'll be posted? I hope they came through. -Mark E. Lawhon

I saw Mr. Coryell in my town Santa Cruz, Ca. in early Dec. It was at a very small venue and there were maybe 15 people for the first show and less for the second. It was hard to believe that I could see one of the worlds greatest so up close and personal. It made me wonder why so few people showed up. Mr Coryell performed magnificantly and with great passion. it was one the best musical experiences I've had. Thank you Mr. Coryell for performing in our small city. I hope to see you here again.

I went to see Larry at the Jazz Showcase on Tuesday Dec. 19; it was a rough week, finishing Xmas shopping, a Grad. class, and running home from work, but afterward I was glad I went. Larry signed my CD, was gracious and I got to the Jazz Showcase before it closed, to move! I had a great dinner before the show and remember thinking to myself while listening to Larry play, "a good meal & great music, times like these make life worth living!

Your sure revamped the site. Did you do away with the forum for lack of interest or am I just seeing it? I think I like what you have done because it loads much faster. Happy New Year to the Coryells and all their fans.

Hello Mondo, Nothing new on the horizon for Larry in the cd recordings as per your question, but his autobiography will be released early 2007.
admin on Thursday 14 December 2006 - 16:00:49
Hello Mondo, I will ask. Mr. Admin
mondomusik on Wednesday 06 December 2006 - 10:40:39
Dear Ms. Admin: Will Larry be recording a new CD at the Showcase? Mondo
admin on Friday 01 December 2006 - 08:35:59
From what I was told the Hendrix Trib was awesome but very long and late hours. As I understand Larry is just now recouping! Johnny Winters, Buddy Miles, Chuck Rainey, Lenny White, Victor Bailey, Cornell Dupree were some of the people there to name a few.
Can someone confirm: Larry Coryell is sitting in with Les Paul tonight at Iridium in NYC? 10 p.m. To you lucky bastards, I hope you go and have stories to share with all of us! Happy trails!
Just finished IMPROVISING, great job Larry ! Been an avid fan since '72. Foreplay at the Twelfth Gate in Atlanta!!! The Firebird Suite at Lawndale Art Annex in Houston!!! With Steve Kahn at Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom!!! On and on, thanks for the memories, it's been a great ride. Just like it takes several decades for the laws to catch up with cultural morality, so it is that sometimes it takes decades for the culture to catch up with an artist. So many extraordinary albums, Offering, Real Great Escape, Spaces, Planet End, The Lion and the Ram, Together, Return, et.al. So much passion for the music ! Such a master of the instrument ! Thanks for all the great music, and may there be many more years to come !
I agree with hikiate Fairyland is an incredible CD. Irecently discovered it, and I have almost all of Mr. Coryells work. Also Bob I second the true blues cd. Also beware of Larry's son Julien has a new power trio CAST, saw them live and they have a great new cd. Julien is carrying on nicely in his dads footsteps.
I just found this site and I'm glad I did! I met Larry at a clinic he did at a MARS music store in Marietta, GA. I bought just about everything he had for sale that day, hahaha. Sadly, I missed the 'Spaces Revisited' gig he did at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta with Lagrene, Bona and Chambers. Is there any live footage of that tour? What I wouldn't give to see that..!!!!
