I saw Mr. Coryell in my town Santa Cruz, Ca. in early Dec. It was at a very small venue and there were maybe 15 people for the first show and less for the second. It was hard to believe that I could see one of the worlds greatest so up close and personal. It made me wonder why so few people showed up. Mr Coryell performed magnificantly and with great passion. it was one the best musical experiences I've had. Thank you Mr. Coryell for performing in our small city. I hope to see you here again.
I went to see Larry at the Jazz Showcase on Tuesday Dec. 19; it was a rough week, finishing Xmas shopping, a Grad. class, and running home from work, but afterward I was glad I went. Larry signed my CD, was gracious and I got to the Jazz Showcase before it closed, to move! I had a great dinner before the show and remember thinking to myself while listening to Larry play, "a good meal & great music, times like these make life worth living!
I'm the photographer that took the front & back cover shots for Larry's 1993 CD "Bolero." I took a class from his former 11th House bass player, now Dr. Daniel Trifan @ Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO. Danny wrote the forward to my book, "Classic Concerts of the 1970s: The Encores Continue". I have several more of the 1981 shots (two of which Larry used for "Bolero") in my book. I arranged a reunion between Danny & Larry @ the St. Louis Jazz Festival in June of 2001! Also, Larry played w/ his sons, Murali & Julian there. Great day! Take a look at my site. http://home.comcast.net/~m.lawhon Also feel free to e-mail me [email protected]
Your sure revamped the site. Did you do away with the forum for lack of interest or am I just seeing it? I think I like what you have done because it loads much faster. Happy New Year to the Coryells and all their fans.
